They use spam to solicit article submissions but often fail to conduct a proper peer review. They accept most articles submitted in order to quickly earn the payments from authors. Because they introduce pseudo-science into the scholarly record, predatory publishers are hurting science and communication of science.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>В статье кратко описана ситуация с издателями-хищниками, эксплуатирующими модель открытого доступа. Они используют спам-рассылку, получая таким образом статьи, но в большинстве случаев игнорируют этап рецензирования. Такие издатели принимают тексты к публикации с целью заработка, — получения денег от авторов. Они засоряют информационное пространство псевдонаучными материалами, наносят вред и науке, и коммуникациям в научном сообществе.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>научные публикации</kwd><kwd>хищнические издатели</kwd><kwd>наука</kwd><kwd>рецензирование</kwd><kwd>открытый доступ</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>scholarly publishing</kwd><kwd>predatory publishers</kwd><kwd>science</kwd><kwd>peer review</kwd><kwd>open access</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title></ref-list><fn-group><fn fn-type="conflict"><p>The authors declare that there are no conflicts of interest present.</p></fn></fn-group></back></article>
